Inks and a scratcher tool on clayboard.
When I was given the deer skull as a gift from a friend, I knew immediately that I wanted to capture
it visually in one way or another. I used inks on clayboard and the process was purely experimental -
most of what you see was just created on a whim in the attempt to communicate what I felt to be the
identity of the skull itself. If that makes sense? All that sentimental mumbo-jumbo aside - I sat down
and essentially just referenced the skull. Clayboard is fantastic in that you can scratch into it and
create some very appealing textures and color layering with it.
