Birth & Death is the Same
Meet a Matriarch in the Making ~ Devyn Curtis fuses a rooted dance rhythm with atuned Yoga flow in Laramie and attributes the chapter of that teacher training to recovering her innate desire to serve as a Reiki practitioner & a Birth Doula: but these are just a few facets of her magnificent ever-evolving multitudes. We became acquainted from her classes and an intuitive ceremony tattoo that she received through me earlier in the year; a tattoo that came about as an energetic encouragement to her inner processes of stewarding creation in & out of this world through healing with the womb. Then she asked me to paint the skull of an unusual buck whom she hunted and she can tell the story with such vulnerable confidence and animated reverence for the Love and the process of being of the Wilds and participating in cycle & source. This buck presented himself to her at 200 yards and she knew exactly what to do. It was a solid ‘I Got This‘ moment and she likened it to ‘weird luck’ but I would consider it to be a kind of reciprocal kismet between her and this animal. The hunt was an intense exchange for her nonetheless and it nearly ended when a 4 wheeler flipped over on her amidst a torrential downpour outside of Afton, Wyoming during their late departure from the hunting grounds ~ but Devyn, covered in mud and clay and with the help of her husband and stepfather, survived the event and laughed on through it. These are the stories that she loved to tell her Grandfather when he was still embodied in this life and the depicted Indian Paintbrush on the skull pulls her memory back to him.
Devyn has risen through unspeakable odds to find her foundation. Born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and adopted ~ she is learning to trust her internal instincts and curates some real power by those experiences.
